Shevi Baruch

Body Rhythm Founder, Shevi, has assembled the top Pilates, GYROTONIC® & GYROKINESIS® method instructors in Los Angeles to offer clients world-class training that produce results tailored to each client’s needs.

Shevi’s training integrates progressions and adaptations to meet the demands of biomechanics of body conditioning, pre and post natal, and the design of corrective programs. Shevi applies her skills and specialized knowledge to individualized training sessions with her clients, teaching them how to incorporate body awareness and the ability to move into their daily lives.

Shevi Baruch is a native of Israel with a Bachelors degree in Speech Therapy and Clinical Audiology from the Tel-Aviv University, and a Masters degree from the Program of Brain Sciences at the Bar-Ilan University.

Shevi studied the GYROTONIC® &  GYROKINESIS® methods and has became a Pre –trainer for both GYROTONIC® & GYROKINESIS®. Shevi is also trained to teach how to use the special equipment of the GYROTONIC® method. Shevi studied the method of Pilates and received her Pilates Certification under the instruction of Tamar Tsachi, at Tamar Studio in Israel, as well as with Marie-José Blom at Long Beach Dance Conditioning Studio and Movement Academy, in Long Beach, California.


Betty Townsley

Manager, Pilates & GYROTONIC® Instructor

Betty is a native of Australia. Pilates was recommended to her for rehabilitation due to a car accident in 2002, which led her on her journey to find ways to strengthen her body and achieve overall health. After experiencing the amazing benefits of Pilates for many years she decided to become an instructor.

She studied Pilates with Marie-Jose Blom at Long Beach Dance Conditioning as well as with Body Arts and Science International. Betty Studied GYROTONIC® with Authorized Master Trainer Sebastian Plettenberg at GYROTONIC® Manhattan.

Betty is a dedicated and passionate teacher who strives to bring out the best in herself and her clients. Her mission is to show her clients how to experience their bodies in a whole new way to enjoy the strength and freedom acquired by her training.


Virginia Horne

Virginia Horne began her early dance training in Honolulu, HI, where she studied under Rosalie Woodson, Laurie Lubeck Yeames (ABT), and Shamil Yagudin (Bolshoi Ballet). She has performed in the national tours of 42nd St. The Musical, West Side Story, and with Jean Ann Ryan Productions. International projects include the Edinburgh Fringe Festival, MTV Italia in Rome, and working as a guest principal dancer in Guatemala City. Virginia is a founding member of Thomas/Ortiz Dance, and has danced many soloist and principal roles at Connecticut Ballet, Continuum Contemporary/Ballet, and Thang Dao Dance Company. She has also danced with Ballet Hawaii, Colorado Ballet, Konstantin Uralsky and Ballet NY. Ms. Horne has performed as a guest artist with Neglia Ballet Artists, Ballet Concierto de Puerto Rico, Northeast Youth Ballet and the New England Dance Theater.

She discovered GYROTONIC® in 2002 which has allowed her to sustain a career in dance by improving the quality of her movement. In 2009, she decided to become a GYROTONIC® instructor, and started her apprenticeship with master trainers Jennifer Daly and Chantal Deeble at Kinespirit Madison Park (NYC). She then began her GYROTONIC® teaching career at Body Evolutions Studio (NYC) with master trainer Billy Macagnone. Virginia has furthered her education in the GYROTONIC® Method by completing certifications in the application GYROTONIC® Level I as a Musical Journey and in specialized equipment such as the Jumping-Stretching Board, GYROTONER®, Leg Extension Unit and GYROTONIC® Applications for Dancers. She has also studied with master trainers Erika Hasaan, Miriam Barbosa, Debra Rose, and the creator himself Juliu Horvath.


Keira Schwartz

Keira, originally a native of Bellingen, Australia, has studied and traveled the world, living out her dream as a professional ballet dancer. She has danced her way throughout Australia, Germany, England, and the USA.

With her love for the arts, as well as the human body and its physicality, the GYROTONIC® Expansion System proved to be an organic and adored addition to her lifestyle starting over 10 years ago while still dancing in Germany.
Upon moving to the USA and having fellow dancers become curious to her exercises Keira realized her love for sharing the system with others and the gratification of seeing others over come and address issues within the own bodies. She then set out to become certified. Keira is Level 1 and 2 GYROTONIC® Certified as well as GYROKINESIS® Level 1. She has also completed her training on the Jumping Stretch Board and specialized work shops such as the GYROTONIC Application for Dancers and the lotus blossom course.

Keira moved recently to Los Angeles area and is excited to share her love and knowledge with her clients.


Danielle Litman

A physical force since birth, Danielle earned the nickname “The Hulk” after breaking a few walls (and noses) as a baby. Danielle’s parents enrolled her in dance and gymnastics at age two, looking for a more constructive outlet for her endless energy. Danielle studied Dance at the University of Arizona and earned a Bachelor of Science degree, then continued her education in Musical Theatre at Carnegie Mellon University. She became a full-time GYROTONIC® & GYROKINESIS® Instructor, eventually becoming certified on the GYROTONER® Leg Extension Unit and Stretching Jumping Board. She continues to develop her education by taking the GYROTONIC® LEVEL 2 Foundation and Pelivic/Lumbar and Scoliosis Therapeutic courses. She has found her true calling healing and helping people. But she didn’t stop there. Danielle’s passion for her own total health drove her back to school to become a Certified and Licensed Esthetician. One of the top skin care professionals in Beverly Hills attracted Danielle—first as a client, then an apprentice—with their philosophy of healing the skin from the inside out. Danielle has found the fountain of youth. She now shares her secrets in GYROTONIC® and GYROKINESIS® and skincare with select clientele.


Yelena Shor

Yelena is a certified GYROTONIC® and GYROKINESIS® instructor and has been teaching movement for awareness and wellness for over ten years. She holds a BS in Kinesiology, Magna Cum Laude, from Cal State University in Northridge. Following her training in Mechanical Engineering in Russia, she pursued her deep interest in human development in the US. Yelena came to know and appreciate the healing and transformative power of movement through dance, martial arts, Yoga, Tensegrity, Feldenkrais Method, Alexander Technique and DeCroux Corporeal Mime. She has team-led numerous workshops and seminars in the United States and abroad.
With her clients Yelena focuses on core strength, flexibility, posture and alignment, opening energy channels, functional and efficient movement for less wear and injury, more energy and enjoyment, and awareness to be in charge of your own wellness.


Lidia Carew

Lidia Carew is an Alvin Ailey Technique trained dancer who was born and raised in Italy. In addition to the Horton Technique, she is also fluent in Contemporary, Modern TV, Jazz, Lyrical and Hip Hop. She has danced and performed internationally for many projects; live, for TV, Music Videos, Theatres, and print. She is currently part of Organic Magnetics, Theater Arts Organization, directed by Maija Garcia also Creative Director of FELA! on Broadway. 
Lidia is currently working on a number of choreography with OM.

Lidia started exercising the GYROTONIC® method in 2011 as a tool to improve her dance performance but very soon became a GYROTONIC® teacher.

She brings her understanding of the body into her teaching and leads her clients to a stronger, more flexible body.


Kate Russel

Kate is a licensed GYROTONIC® and GYROKINESIS® trainer. She is a certified GYROTONIC® PRE-TRAINER. She trained extensively with master trainer Sebastian Plettenberg in NYC. A lifelong dancer and artist, Kate’s early dance training includes a Certificate in Dance from the Ailey School. She earned a BA in Design from Central St Martins College in London UK, and taught in London for several years. While teaching in the UK she earned a Masters Degree in Dance and Somatic Well-Being. She is also a certified Dance-Meditation practitioner. Kate’s practice focuses on the healing and meditative qualities of movement, and how this enriches our daily lives.


Brenda Nieto

Brenda is a native of Guanajuato, Mexico where she started her journey as a dancer. She came to the US with a Coca-Cola Scholarship for Artistic Excellence to continue her dance education in New York City.
Brenda’s performing experience includes: the Martha Graham Dance Company, Dzul Dance Company, Nina Buisson Contemporary Move, and Ballet Nacional de Mexico.

After a long journey performing and touring, Brenda decided to try GYROTONIC® to recover from a knee injury and to experience the quality of movement and healing benefits of the GYROTONIC® expansion system. She fell in love with GYROTONIC® and was inspired to become a teacher to pass on the same benefits to people and help them to embrace their bodies and prevent injuries.

Brenda was a part of the University of South Carolina dance faculty.

Brenda started her Foundation Level I Training with Master Trainers Leda Franklin and Miriam Barbosa. She received her final teacher certification under the guidance of Master Trainers Lisa Marie Goodwin and Billy Macagnone. Brenda is certified in the GYROTONIC® Jump Stretch Board specialized equipment with Master Trainer Juergen Bamberger; and has completed the GYROTONIC® for Golf Applications Workshop under the guidance of David and Jeanie Rasmussen.

Brenda attended the GYROTONER® course in 2010 and became certified for GYROTONIC® Level 2 with Master Trainer Kathy Van Patten in January 2011.

In 2012 became certified in GYROKINESIS® and 2013 the Archway.


Valentina Val

Valentina Izyumova is a certified Pilates, GYROTONIC® and Yoga instructor as well as aerial teacher.She begun her journey as a dancer at age 5 in former Soviet Union. Inher teens she attended Dance Academy trained as a classical andcharacter dancer in the best tradition of Vaganova method. Finished Dance Academy with diploma of classical, character dancer and choreographer.

After moving to USA, she discovered Pilates and GYROTONIC® as a rehabilitation systems for dancers. Creative movements and dance was always main source of joy and creativity for Valentina. With a new mindful approach to the body, Valentina took next challenge and began to train in Aerial Arts at San Francisco Cirques Center with the best trainers from Russia and Mongolia. She became trapeze artist and performed in various cirques and dance shows.

Valentina’s approach in teaching is in bringing out awarness the clients ability to move with joy.
For her performances she was featured in LA Times, LA Weekly and recently in Malibu Times.

Leslie Alnes trainercroped

Leslie Alnes

Leslie was first introduced to Pilates and Yoga as part of her training as a young dancer.  As her practices deepened she was inspired by how effective both were at addressing the typical injuries and discomforts of not only the dancer but the non-dancer as well.  In an effort to deepen her own healing and to be able help others, Leslie received her Pilates Certification from Long Beach Dance Conditioning and Certification in the GYROTONIC® EXPANSION SYSTEM®.  She continues to draw upon her experience with Dance, Yoga, and Yamuna Body Rolling to enhance her teaching and enjoys inspiring her clients to create greater strength, freedom of movement, well-being and confidence.  Leslie also holds a BA from New York University’s Gallatin School with a concentration in Art and Advocacy.  When she’s not teaching some of her favorite activities include traveling the world and enjoying the company of her friends and family.


Elizabeth Jackson

GYROKINESIS®  Master Trainer, Specialized Equipment

Since receiving her BA in Liberal Arts from Harvard University in 2001, Elizabeth has had the good fortune of training with many of the world’s inspirational and leading Mind-Body educators.  Elizabeth has earned certifications from Juliu Horavath, the founder of GYROTONIC®; Romana Kryzonowska, the famous student of Joseph Pilates of the Pilates NY Guild; and Yamuna Zake of Yamuna Body Rolling™ in NYC.  She has studied anatomy and physiology with Tom Myers, the founder of Anatomy Trains Myofascial Meridians™, and various styles of yoga with many different world re-known Yoga instructors.

During her career as a Mind-Body instructor, Elizabeth has worked with injuries such as hip replacements and spinal fusions, illnesses like fibromyalgia and rheumatoid arthritis, and bone disorders like osteoporosis and scoliosis.  She’s worked with everyday people and professionals, as well as celebrities such as athlete Shaquille O’Neal, and actress Nicollette Sheridan.


Erika Hassan

Authorized GYROTONIC® & GYROKINESIS®  Master Trainer, Specialized Equipment

Erika Hassan has studied dance for 15 years and started her GYROTONIC® & GYROKINESIS® training in 1993. After taking private lessons with Juliu Horvath for three years, Hassan changed her body and her life in general! The GYROTONIC® & GYROKINESIS® training opened up a vision of dance from the inside out, so that outer forms were dictated by the energy within. Hassan is currently a dancer and choreographer, as well as a Authorized Master Trainer, teaching courses in GYROTONIC® GYROKINESIS®, and the Specialized Equipment at GYROTONIC® Santa Monica and other studios around the world.


Sebastian Plettenberg
